Slack User Authorization

Magnify supports sending messages through Slack using Motions. In order to do this, each user you’d like to send messages on behalf of will need to authorize Magnify to do so.

A Motion will fail if you attempt to send a message from a user that has not authorized Magnify to send on their behalf. The action will also fail if you attempt to send a message to a channel that the specified sender is not apart of.
Authorized Slack users do not need to be a user in Magnify.

To begin, you will need to follow the instructions for integrating with Slack by following our General OAuth Integration Guide.

Once the Slack connection has been made successfully, navigate to the Integrations menu and locate Your Connections. From here, select the icon and choose Copy OAuth Link.

Send this link to each user that you wish to authenticate and authorize messages to be sent from by Magnify. The link will redirect users to a Slack webpage to grant permissions to the Magnify app. Select Allow.

If you have multiple Slack instances, you may need to select the correct instance to install the app from a dropdown list in the top right corner of the screen.
